Presentation Summary: This presentation will serve as a “primer” on the world of licensed opioid treatment programs for non-OTP professionals and community stakeholders attending the AATOD Conference. In keeping with AATOD’s theme of “so much more than medication”, participants will understand key terms, concepts, parameters and issues necessary to understand how to best collaborate with OTPs in their own communities - especially in grasping how the programmatic aspects of an OTP work with the medications being utilized to promote recovery.

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants will:
  • Describe the parameters of a licensed Opioid Treatment Program and how it differs from Office-Based Opioid Treatment.
  • List the benefits of Medication Assisted Treatment on several levels.
  • Apply strategies for partnering with community stakeholders to ensure successful patient care.
