Liz Evans, an internationally recognized expert in harm reduction with over 30 years of experience, began as a nurse in a low-income community, addressing complex needs of individuals frequently cycling through emergency care. She managed a residential hotel for a grassroots nonprofit, creating an inclusive organization providing housing, medical care, detox, jobs, and social programs for 8,000 people daily. Liz was pivotal in opening North America’s first supervised injection site, Insite, in 2003, a global model for overdose prevention.
