Ms. Florenzano joined the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) team as a Regional Manager, within the Community Services Division, in 2014. In this role, she helped to make significant contributions to the system including revamping of the on-site evaluation process, fostering of community collaboration and growing the voice of recovery. In 2021, she was promoted to the Director of Regional Services and acts as the appointed State Opioid Treatment Authority (SOTA) for Connecticut. Ms. Florenzano takes pride in leading Connecticut in embracing and adopting many of the revisions to 42 CFR part 8. She continues to support conversations with state agencies and advocate for additional regulatory changes needed for full adoptions of the revisions. Her focus continues to be highlighting the importance of immediate access, receiving individualized care and decreasing the stigma surrounding the individuals walking through the doors of OTPs.
Prior to joining state service, she earned 20+ years of experience within the behavioral health system of care in various roles. She has held diverse leadership positions as Program Director in a Connecticut Opioid Treatment Program as well as at New Haven based Federally Qualified Health Center. She embraces the ability to “help shape the system” with a focus on the importance of integrative care. Ms. Florenzano is also is also known to have a “glass half full” philosophy seeing the possibilities rather than the barriers.
