Smith Worth is a licensed clinical social worker and a licensed clinical addiction specialist with over 35 years of experience in the addiction treatment field. Recently retired from state service after 30 years, Smith is the former North Carolina State Opioid Treatment Authority. Smith has worked extensively to expand access to care and enhance quality. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from North Carolina State University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Throughout her career, Smith has written and presented extensively on opioid use disorder and its treatments, the stigma of addiction, and clinical and policy solutions to the overdose crisis.
