Dr. Kamala Greene Génecé is a NY state licensed clinical psychologist who currently serves as the Chief Clinical Officer at the Behavioral Health Group (BHG), an organization than runs 116 outpatient addiction treatment centers in 22 states. In this role she works to ensure evidence-based and quality clinical care.
Dr. Génecé has over 20 years of experience in the design and implementation of addiction treatment programs and the utilization of cognitive-behavioral techniques for the treatment of co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. Dr. Génecé received her master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from Boston University, completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Boston Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC), and completed post-doctoral work at the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University (now known as Partnership to End Addiction). Prior to joining BHG, Dr. Genece was a Principal Consultant at Health Management Associates (HMA), a consultancy specializing in providing services to the publicly funded healthcare system, where she provided clinical and administrative technical assistance to behavioral health agencies in implementing evidence-practices, assessing state-wide substance abuse treatment system capacity, and developing strategic plans for program improvement. Dr. Génecé has also served as the Vice President, System Innovation & Quality at the Partnership to End Addiction, where she drove development of program improvement products for the New York State addiction treatment system and as the Chief Clinical Officer of Phoenix Houses NY/LI. At Phoenix House, Dr. Génecé worked to develop and implement best-practices in residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment throughout NYC and LI. Prior to joining Phoenix House, Dr. Génecé served as the Deputy Director of the Division of Substance Abuse (DoSA), and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, at Montefiore Medical Center, where she was the Chair of the Quality Committee and provided administrative and clinical leadership to over 200 staff members serving 3000 OTP patients annually. In addition, Dr. Génecé has served as the Administrative Director of Addiction Treatments at Bronx Lebanon Health Center (now BronxCare), where she oversaw five levels of American Society of Addiction Medication care.
