Presentation Summary: This session addresses preventing and recovering from burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma for healthcare professionals. Although codes of ethics include self-care, wellness, and self-monitoring as imperatives for helping vulnerable communities, the National Council on Mental Wellbeing 2023 survey revealed that 93% of behavioral health employees have recently experienced burnout. Participants in this training will learn to assess burnout and vicarious trauma using evidence-based tools, while setting professional development goals across eight self-care domains. The training will include interactive exercises that result in an updated self-care maintenance plan, tailored for the behavioral healthcare professional.
