Presentation Summary: This project examines the impact of SAMHSA Part 8 on opioid treatment program (OTP) retention rates in Colorado. By comparing clinic data before and after the policy’s implementation in March 2025, this study identifies key factors influencing patient retention, including regulatory and patient-reported barriers. Using both quantitative and qualitative data, the project demonstrates the importance of implementing SAMHSA Part 8 and provides recommendations on how to incorporate these new regulatory guidelines in OTPs across the United States. Findings highlight how SAMHSA Part 8 effectively modernizes opioid treatment access and informs future strategies to enhance retention and treatment success.
