P25 - Trends in Drug Testing Among Patients Receiving MOUD at Opioid Treatment Programs Before and After COVID-19

Presentation Summary: This poster presentation will describe trends in drug testing before and after the COVID-19 pandemic using data from 50,535 unique patients treated at 79 OTP clinics across 23 states from January 2018 to May 2023. The trends show a marked declined in the percent of patients receiving drug testing in March 2020, relative to the prior years. By June 2020, the OTP drug testing practices returned to pre-pandemic levels.

At the completion of this activity, participants will:
  • Describe trends in drug testing and identify if they changed from before to after the COVID-19 public health emergency.
  • Explain the required amount of testing at OTP clinics and differences by states.
  • Describe the extent to which clinics vary in their testing approaches.
