Presentation Summary: This presentation presents findings from a 2024 national survey that assessed U.S. Opioid Treatment Programs’ (OTPs) implementation of the federal "Final Rule" for methadone treatment and adoption of trauma-informed practices. Results from 44 OTPs reveal low adoption of most Final Rule components—36% offered initial telehealth health assessments and 25% offered none of the allowed methadone take-home dosing options. Findings highlight a disconnect between updated guidelines and practice, plus a need to prioritize staff well-being for effective methadone treatment and better patient outcomes. For example, most OTPs don't offer staff trauma assessments, despite burnout being a concern.

Identify at least three specific provisions of the federal "Final Rule" (42 CFR §8) designed to modernize methadone treatment in the U.S.
Describe Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) status in implementing Final Rule telehealth and flexible dosing options.
Explain at least two actionable strategies OTPs can take to improve their adoption of the Final Rule to or promote trauma-informed care.
