Presentation Summary: Despite the prevalence of opioid use disorder and opioid overdoses, there is a lack of literature with current recommendations for response to opioid overdose events specific for outpatient settings. Based on literature review of relevant inpatient protocols and guidelines, we adapted an evidence-based algorithm that may be used for outpatient staff training in response to such emergencies. Our poster presentation outlines the methods of our quality improvement initiative, the developed overdose response algorithm, and recommendations for implementation.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, participants will:
Identify rationale for developing a response to opioid overdose in the outpatient setting.
Discuss the step-by-step process of the opioid overdose response algorithm
