Program Director High Point Treatment Center Attleboro, Massachusetts
Presentation Summary: The Stimulant Treatment and Recovery Team (START) is a unique model of clinical care that utilizes an adapted nurse-care manager model to treat patients with evidence-based interventions for StUD including CM, exercise-supported recovery, group medical/BH visits, and pharmacotherapy. The START model of clinical care began at a hospital-based family medicine clinic in 2021 and enrolled over 100 patients its first year. The goal of this novel program was to co-locate the previously successful START model of care at an opioid treatment program to target individuals with primary stimulant use disorder and those with co-occurring opioid use disorder on agonist treatment.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, participants will:
Identify at least 2 evidence-based behavioral health interventions for the treatment of stimulant use disorders.
Identify at least 2 evidence-based medication interventions for the treatment of stimulant use disorders.
Describe the unique features of implementing the stimulant treatment and recovery team (START) model at a co-located opioid treatment program.
