Presentation Summary: Significant opportunities exist to improve opioid treatment outcomes. In this workshop, we will describe a NIDA-funded quality improvement approach that aims to increase OTP retention and outcomes by pairing retention measures with quality improvement strategies. The workshop will present new comprehensive case mix adjusted retention rate metrics for OTPs in the United States. These metrics would allow an OTP to determine if they are lagging their peers in retaining patients. We also describe a new toolkit of evidence-informed approaches that may be paired with the metrics to drive retention and outcomes improvements.

At the completion of this activity, participants will:

Define how comprehensive remission rate metrics can help OTPs identify opportunities for quality improvement.
Describe evidence-informed strategies that can improve retention and outcomes in OTPs.
Identify was to improve medication dosing to address patients’ withdrawal and craving symptoms in a prompt and safe manner.
